In Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, the chant for the fights in the gladiator arena was, “Two Men Enter, One Man Leaves.” OK, so it’s not a fight to the death on Capitol Hill Wednesday. But Roger Clemens and Brian McNamee will enter, and only one will leave with his reputation intact. And the other may be headed to jail.
In an election year, we’ve seen more mudslinging between the lawyers for these two than in either primary. Rusty Hardin in particular seems to be relishing the opportunity to bash anybody in his path, including McNamee, his lawyers, as well as Rep. Waxman.
Now comes the moment of truth, and I’m not talking about that new reality tv show. This will be the ultimate reality tv, with the ultimate consequences.
Will Clemens save his name, his reputation, his chance at the HoF?
Or will McNamee bury him under an avalanche of evidence?
