16-0

It was harder than anticipated, but the Pats finished off the regular season undefeated, scraping past the Giants, 38-35.  In the process, Tom Brady set the record for TD passes in a single season (50) and Randy Moss set the record for TD catches in a single season (23).

It’s an impressive run, which needs to be capped with a Super Bowl win to make this a truly historic team.  It also brings up a bunch of questions…

Are the Raiders the dumbest organization in football?  They traded Moss to NE for a 4th round draft pick.  I say YES.

Did the Jets and Spygate provide the emotional spark for the unbeaten season?  I say NO.  Much has been made of the incident, but the Pats were a dominant team to begin with and a bunch of players, including Moss, had something to prove.

Are the Giants defensive coaches and players really that dumb?  I say YES.  With a chance to blow up the Pats record-breaking run, they allowed Moss to run untouched down the field to catch the go-ahead TD in the fourth quarter.  I guess they didn’t expect Brady to throw deep to Moss, since he hadn’t done it much all year.

Will the Pats win the Super Bowl?  I still say YES.  But I won’t be surprised if they don’t.  The Chargers, Colts and Jaguars all have the elements to defeat them.

I hope everybody has enjoyed the holiday season.  Have a safe and Happy New Year celebration.

THERE IT IS!

Gotta agree with you completely, there.

I think the Pats chances of winning the Super Bowl are better than you think. Because of their run at the perfect season, they’ve effectively been at play-off pitch for the past month and a half. Every game has been a do-or-die, single-elimination game — win or lose that perfect season. Every team they played during that stretch was wound up to 110%, determined to ruin that 16-0 season for them.

So, not only do the Pats have the talent, they have the experience. There aren’t any other teams going into the playoff that have that much experience with that much pressure. And the Pats didn’t fold under that pressure. Sixteen and oh, way to go!

  2. The Raiders are up there but as long as Matt Millen is running things in Detroit I’d say the Lions are the NFL’s dumbest organization.
