It Ain’t Broke, Don’t Fix It
There’s a ton of talk this year about possibly expanding the NCAA tournament to 96, 128 or even all Division I basketball teams. While I don’t have a problem with progress, I do have a big problem with this idea and it’s wrapped up in a very simple phrase:
IT AIN’T BROKE, DON’T FIX IT!
The NCAA tournament isn’t broke. In fact, it’s the most exciting playoffs of any sport, because it involves all the elements that make sports so great: win or go home, underdogs trying to prove they belong with the big boys, teams from all across the country, players from all walks of life, coaching pupils facing their mentors and just the right time frame to keep us interested from start to finish. Do I even have to mention the current bracket is perfect for anybody and everybody to fill out for fun or money?!?!?
I’m sure if they “fix it” we’ll deal with the changes. But we don’t have to. And we don’t want to. Because we don’t need to. The NCAA Tournament is as perfect an event as can be in sports.
IT AIN’T BROKE, DON’T FIX IT!
THERE IT IS!
