Suspension of Disbelief
In movies, there’s a concept called suspension of disbelief, where the audience agrees to temporarily accept as believable events that would ordinarily be seen as incredible, in exchange for a promise of entertainment. It’s clear to me NASCAR is asking all of us to do just that in Carl Edwards’ case as it didn’t suspend him but merely placed him on probation for three weeks.
There’s no doubt Edwards intentionally wrecked Keselowski.
There’s no doubt Edwards did so to retaliate for prior incidents.
There’s no doubt Edwards did so because he was out of contention.
There’s no doubt Edwards was lucky not to seriously injure Keselowski.
There’s no doubt Edwards was even luckier not to injure any fans.
There’s no doubt Edwards wasn’t apologetic at all.
Still not sure he deserved to be suspended? Then let’s compare the incident to the country’s most popular sport.
Imagine if a star NFL player decided to attempt to exact revenge against an opponent by throwing his helmet at the end of a blowout. Imagine if the helmet bounced off the opponent and hit the top of the wall separating the players from the fans, just avoiding hitting the spectators. Imagine if afterward the player expressed no remorse and said the opponent deserved it. The question wouldn’t be whether he would be suspended, but for how long.
NASCAR has fought long and hard for credibility on the American sporting landscape. By not suspending Carl Edwards for nearly putting the life of a competitor and the fans at risk, it’s clear to me NASCAR has given up the fight.
THERE IT IS!

Carl Edwards acted like such a jerk on sunday when he intentionall wrecked a car., apparently he might have though he was in days of thunder and he was cole trickle. IMHO he is a trouble maker and it would not suprise me if he ends up killing someone on the track. I just hope I am wrong. Well we shall see what happens next week when we do it all over again.
Reading a bunch of blogs about Dale Jr it sure seems like everyone is obssessed with who he is making out with all I have to say is whoever she is sure not helping him focus on winning I just hope the year turns out better than last race season becasue I am really starting to loose interest in the sport. I am happy that Nascar had the common sense to NOT finish races under a caution!
