Will Third Time Be The Charm?

This Sunday will be the third time the Jets play in the AFC Championship game.

The first time, they were shut out, 14-0, by the hated Dolphins.

The second time, they led 10-0 in the third quarter but committed six turnovers and lost 23-10 to the Broncos.

Will the third time be the charm?  As much as I want that to be the case, it’s going to be awfully difficult.  The Jets struggled to score points the first time they played the Colts and Indy wasn’t playing all their defenders all the time in that game.  Plus, Peyton Manning has never lost to a Rex Ryan defense (and no, Week 16 doesn’t count because Manning left the game with the lead).

My father, a longtime Jets fan as well, always told me to bet with my head, not with my heart.  As usual, I’m ignoring his advice.
Jets 24, Colts 23.

As for the NFC Championship game, the Saints are a wonderful story, but their offensive line is going to struggle with the Vikings defensive line, and their defense isn’t good enough to slow down Minnesota’s passing game.  It will be entertaining in the Superdome, but ultimately the hometown fans will go home depressed.
Vikings 38, Saints 27.
