Year of the Pitcher. World Series Game 1. Tim Lincecum. Cliff Lee. Giants win 11-7. Just what we expected. Not in the Giants’ wildest dreams or even in the Rangers’ worst nightmares do we find that score. Halloween isn’t for another couple of days, but the ball probably looked as big as a pumpkin when the Giants [...]

After the most ballyhooed and criticized offseason in history, the Miami Heat opened the season on the road in Boston. LeBron James showed up to play the Celtics. Too bad for him Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh didn’t. James scored 31 points, but Wade and Bosh combined to shoot 7-27 from the field. Meanwhile, the [...]

After a Week 2 loss to the Bears, I said the Cowboys were done for the season. Lots of newspaper writers, bloggers and talking heads kept babbling about how they could still get back in the NFC East race. After their loss on Monday night, I think it’s safe to say that’s not going to happen. [...]
Most of the time life is unfair. The rich guy gets your girl. The bully gets your lunch money. The jerk gets the glory. But sometimes it goes your way. Justice prevails and you get what you deserve and so does your nemesis. And when that happens, you have to live it up for all its worth. Because [...]

I was all in favor of suspensions for helmet-to-helmet and other dangerous hits in the NFL, because I didn’t want players ending up with mangled bodies and mushy brains. But then the players spoke out against them, essentially saying those hits are part of the game and everybody knows the risks of the violent sport they love. [...]

It’s been tough to be a Mets fan the last few years. -In 2006, my favorite team was a win away from the World Series but was knocked out by Yadier Molina and the Cardinals. -In 2007, they collapsed down the stretch and blew a 7-game lead with just 17 games left and lost the division [...]
Having logged a massive seven hours of sleep, it was time to get back on the road to Atlanta. Thankfully, this final leg was only about 100 miles and we didn’t have any traffic issues, although we did pass an RV that was on fire on the shoulder of the highway. Craig, being one of [...]

With Craig an Arkansas alum and Marc a diehard Auburn fan, the game between the Razorbacks and the Tigers promised to be interesting. Beforehand, we stopped off near the campus at the home of Marc’s brother-in-law’s father. While you’re trying to figure out exactly who that is, I’ll just tell you Wayne treated us to fantastic [...]

The game Friday night was fun, as Cincinnati knocked off Louisville, 35-27, but afterwards was most certainly not fun. We hopped in the car for the 480-mile drive from Louisville to Auburn, but everybody else was exiting the stadium at the same time. So we waited. And waited. And waited. And after about an hour, [...]

Feeling rejuvenated after some sleep and a meal, it was time to head to Louisville. We finally put Craig behind the wheel of the car and despite that still made it to Louisville without a problem. Upon our arrival, we realized we had some extra time before [...]
